| SOLENOIDS |
The Solenoids are classified based on the type of Voltage (AC or DC), Action (Pull or Push and Linear or Rotational), and Duty Cycle (100%, 50% or 25%) etc. These find numerous applications in the industry. Depending on the type of duty cycle when a Linear Solenoid coil is energized the plunger, either Pull or Push type, is driven into the coil, closing the magnetic circuit. The linear Stroke Length/Force developed by the pulling or pushing action of the plunger is intelligently used to perform predetermined work. Similarly, the stroke length in a Rotary Solenoid is measured in degrees of rotation with no linear movement.
SERIES CODE FOR LINEAR SOLENOID:
FEATURES: 1. These can be either AC or DC operated. 2. The plunger action can be either Pull or Push. 3. The rate of operation or Duty Cycle, i.e. the ON and OFF time is fixed for a particular solenoid. 4. Available with different plunger End Styles to suit different applications. 5. The coil is wound with thermal insulation of class “H” withstanding a temperature up to 1800C maximum.
SERIES CODE FOR ROTARY SOLENOID:
ROTARY SOLENOID FEATURES: 1. It is DC operated. 2. The plunger/shaft action is rotation with an angle of 600. 3. The stroke angle and rate of operation (Duty Cycle, i.e. the ON and OFF time) are fixed for a particular solenoid. 4. The coil is wound with thermal insulation of class “H” withstanding a temperature up to 1800C maximum. 5. Thermal switch (Off temp.à 1200C; On temp.à 770C) is provided inside the coil. 6. An additional micro switch is provided for feed back.
CONSTRUCTION: Basically solenoid consists of a coil wound on a bobbin encapsulated in a frame of suitable size. The bobbin has a through hole in which the plunger operates. When the coil is energized magneto motive force develops, forcing the plunger to minimize the path of magnetic reluctance. As mentioned before, in a Linear Solenoid this motion of the plunger is converted to either the Pull or Push based on the type of end style of the plunger, while in case of Rotary Solenoid into rotational motion.
